Karen Sands, AICP, Senior Advisor

Karen is a Senior Advisor at Greenprint specializing in green infrastructure business development. She has extensive planning and project management experience, contributing to major policy and infrastructure initiatives across governments, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector. She is dedicated to tackling complex projects and maximizing their social, environmental, and economic benefits.

As a passionate advocate for sustainable urban planning practices, Karen has designed and implemented green infrastructure programs with various focuses such as outreach and education, workforce development, and site design and installation. She is trained by the International Association for Public Participation and is skilled in strategic communications, meeting facilitation, and outreach program development.

Prior to joining Greenprint, Karen worked at the intersection of water resources, green infrastructure, and sustainability planning for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. She earned a B.A. in Geography and an M.A. in Regional Planning from the State University of New York at Albany, and is certified by the American Association of Certified Planners.
