Dena van der Wal, PLA

Landscape Architecture Associate

Chicago

Dena is a landscape architect associate with nine years of experience working on projects that range in type and scale across the Midwest. Her experience includes projects in the public space, nonprofit, corporate, residential and commercial sectors. Additionally, she has worked on a range of streetscape projects and mixed-use developments.

Dena approaches landscape design with an environmental focus, looking beyond aesthetics to ensure a place is designed to support the entire ecosystem of living things that occupy it, from plants and animals to people. She plays close attention to the interdependencies that exist within a landscape and designs to support layered communities of life.

Dena holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She is a licensed Professional Landscape Architect in Illinois and Michigan and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
